Barrioteca returns this Saturday for a day-to-night festival spread across three indoor and outdoor stages at Fraser Park in Marrickville.

Presented by Discoteca Tropical, Dutty and Planet Trip, the festival brings together sounds from across Latin America, Africa, Brazil and the Caribbean.

Expect cumbia, salsa dura, champeta, reggaeton, dancehall, amapiano, dembow, zouk, highlife, tropical bass and plenty of deep Brazilian rhythms.

Canguaru readers may remember Astronafrica from our recent Re.Sonãncia feature. The Brazilian-born, Sydney-based DJ returns on the Discoteca Tropical Stage, bringing his mix of Afro-Brazilian grooves, diasporic rhythms and underground dance music to the festival.

Across the three stages, the lineup also includes Bare Necessities, Calimera, Canela, Foxy Fuzz, Tropicante, Carolina Gasolina, Maria Pina, Shantan Wantan Ichiban and many more.

This is also more than a late-night club event. The doors open while the sun is still out, and local favourites Pochito Sydney and Radio Taco will be serving food throughout the day, so come hungry.

Divino Samba returns to Marrickville on 29 August, and the organisers have announced that only one table remains for the fourth edition.

The final table is positioned closer to the stage and includes entry for four guests, making it a great option for friends who want to experience the roda together.

Expect an afternoon and evening of live samba, Brazilian food, familiar faces and the energy of a gathering that has quickly become a Sydney tradition.

Casa do Benfica will once again be transformed into a lively samba space built around music, community and that feeling of being a little closer to Brazil.

A new episode of Back in Brazil has landed just in time for the weekend.

Episode #45, titled Bonito, gente!, moves through samba, blues, MPB, samba rock and Brazilian music from different generations.

The selection features Celso Blues Boy, Elis Regina, Fernanda Takai, Fitti, Guilherme Arantes, Jorge Ben Jor, Joyce Moreno, Lemos & Debétio, Luiz Caldas, Lulina, Ortinho, Seu Jorge, Tania Maria, Teresa Cristina and more.
