Baião de Dois, Moqueca by Kitanda in a Box
A new chapter for Kitanda, now at the BCC
Kitanda was never just another Brazilian restaurant for a lot of people in Sydney. It became a place tied to comfort, memory and that familiar feeling of eating something that takes you closer to home.
For many Brazilian immigrants, it helped make the distance feel a little smaller.
Now, that story continues through Kitanda in a Box, operating from the Brazilian Cultural Centre in Marrickville. The format may have changed, but the heart of it still feels very clear: fresh Brazilian food made to keep those familiar flavours close and accessible.

On the menu are dishes that speak directly to that feeling of saudade, including Baião de Dois, Feijoada, Picanha, Carne Seca, Feijão Tropeiro, Moqueca de Peixe, Frango Stroganoff, Empadão and more. And there’s a current promo running too: buy 10 meals and get free delivery plus 1 Guaraná 1.5L.
What makes this especially exciting is where Kitanda has landed. The Brazilian Cultural Centre is already becoming a real reference point for Brazilian culture in Sydney, with frequent events, classes, music, dancing, food and community all coming together under one roof.
This partnership already feels like a perfect fit. It brings together a place that has long helped keep Brazilian food and comfort close with a centre that is giving Brazilian culture in Marrickville more visibility, more energy and more room to grow. Together, they are creating one of the most exciting Brazilian cultural and food hubs in Sydney.

Mother’s Day with Cria & Between Us Band lands at Time & Tide in Dee Why on Saturday, 9 May, for a full afternoon of live music and community energy. The event brings together Between Us with a mix of Brazilian grooves, soul, R&B, funk, blues and rock, followed by Projeto Cria do Samba with the warm samba circle atmosphere they’re known for.
Cria do Samba events at Time & Tide are already well known for being family friendly, especially with the playground and jumping castle making it easier for parents to settle in and enjoy the day too.
With food platters, bar taps and Rapunzel Afro Hair also part of the experience, this one has all the ingredients for a great Mother’s Day weekend gathering.
