Easter Eggs Hunt

Messina gets close… but Brazilians treat Easter eggs like a competitive sport
When I first moved to Australia, one of the little cultural shocks was dessert. Not all of it, obviously, but a lot of it felt a bit too well-behaved. Too tidy. Too sensible. In Brazil, sweets know how to make an entrance. They come with filling, drama, sugar, emotion and absolutely no interest in being subtle.
That is probably why Messina became one of my local weak spots early on. Anything involving doce de leite already has my attention. So when they dropped this Easter egg situation, I had to respect it. Finally, an Easter treat in Australia that looks like it understands the assignment.

Gelato easter egg by Messina
But also… it did make me laugh a bit. Because for Brazilians, this is not even the final boss. Brazilian Easter eggs are on another level entirely. Bigger shells, crazier fillings, more imagination, more personality. Messina can absolutely save the locals, but Brazilians have been training for this their whole lives.
So if their egg tempted you, fair enough. But if you want to see how far this category can really go, here are the receipts. Below are a few of my favourite finds this year, and you can explore the full guide at the link.

Spoonable Trio Eggs Box by Baking Love Bakery
Baking Love Bakery from Gold Coast, QLD, came in with a trio that makes the point immediately. Dark Passionfruit, Honey Spice Cake (pão de mel 🤤), and Cold Coconut Cake all packed into eggs that go well beyond plain chocolate and straight into full dessert territory.
Brazilian Easter eggs were never built to be subtle, and this box leans right into that. More filling, more texture, more personality, and zero interest in behaving like a supermarket egg.

Pudim Spoon Egg by Marietta Cakes
Then there’s the Pudim Spoon Egg by Marietta Cakes in Sydney, NSW, which honestly feels like a very Brazilian flex.
Creamy caramel pudding meeting chocolate in one spoonable Easter creation is exactly the sort of thing that reminds you how inventive this category can get. It is rich, nostalgic, slightly over-the-top, and all the better for it.
Easter egg promos are live too
Have I mentioned we now have a full Brazilian Easter Egg Guide on Canguaru?
A couple of these bakeries are running promotions right now, so if anything here caught your eye, go have a look.
